Situation
Fiesta Plastics of Mesa, AZ is a full service custom injection molder producing complex parts and assemblies for a wide range of end users from aerospace to artist supplies to non-implantable medical products. The company operates 16 injection molding machines, with cold runners and hot runners, utilizing all types of resins such as PP, PC, ABS, PE and Nylon. Fiesta purges during all color and material changes and was using a large amount of purge material to flush out previous colors, particularly with the hot runners. They had tried liquid compounds and resin additives to no avail.
Solution
Fiesta Plastics tested Dyna-Purge® D2 and discovered the difference this engineered purging compound delivers. “Dyna-Purge® D2 formula is in a different league when comparing to the purging compounds we have used in the past,” says Mike Greathouse, Account Manager. “Using Dyna-Purge® D2, we have reduced color change time to less than two minutes, significantly reduced purge material, and improved start-up drastically.” Mike Greathouse also noted that the company’s set-up techs and supervisors are now able to spend less time purging and have more time to get more important tasks done.
